One of my cousins gave me a live album when I was a kid. He knew I was into Led Zep and Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow. I really like your style. Rock meets Rythem & Blues with a little funk in there. Really gets you groovin. I'm a Sci-Fi writer and your lyrics INSPIRE some of my stories. Thanks and keep rockingsmile

Hi Frank,

I signed your guestbook a few minutes ago, but did'nt realise that this was the stuff that you read personnaly...but I think it is...Cool! I 'll go back back in time a bit ( o ya, I'm 50 now... LOL - Bear this out OK) to the first time I heard your music. Got to hear your music through a old friend of mine (Sergio), by the way he said he got the chance to chat with you a few times after some of your concerts. He introduced me to Maxoom and some of Child of the Novelty while I was playing more commercial rock in Bars around our area. I met Sergio when we were 13-14 and he intiated me to Jimi Hendrix at around that age also. I caught a glimpse of the Hendrix magic. At around twenty one, I was doing commercial stuff still (Boston-Doucette what people considered hard rock) but would still meet your the Gibeault brothers - Die hard Hendrix fans of the sincerest kind. Sergio came out to see me play ( I was a guitarist) and he saw that I wasn't having fun anymore doing that stuff. So we went to this place he and his brother were renting, where he and his brother had stacks of Marshalls and a set of drums that a guy had left behind after a jam. We started making music, some of your tunes and some Hendrix stuff and jamed for at least 3 to 4 solid hours non-stop. There was something in the air...things were jelling....oh yeah, I was the guy on the drums. I've always had a good ear to pick up stuff. I got myself a double set of Ludwigs with Seinheiser Mike and all. So we jammed a few more times and I guess we started to get serious about putting something together.so that's when we figured lets give this a run. We jamed quite a bit , bought some other equipment and actually only played one show with him. At this time my elder sister who was a big Janis fan. My sister was pretty mixed up taking a lot of dexedrines and drinking HEAVY. but she met some Christians people who talked to her about God and His Son Jesus Christ. Changes started to take place in her live quite drastically....she wasn't just putting on some religious cloak, but deep inside God had grabed a hold of her Life...and I SAW it. But at that time Sergio was getting into flying saucers and extra-terrestial stuff and satanic symbols painted on the speaker stacks and that's when God started to move in on MY life. I couldn't keep playing with the Gibeault bros. it was getting out of hand. So I left the the new band. But since a year or so I've sat down to listen to some of your stuff with a new approach. I'm not listening to this demi-god musician with his stunning musical capabilities (though I respect your talent immensely) I hear you with more maturity (musically speaking) and am able to better deceipher...musically speaking, the tunes you were doing. Great stuff Frank!!!! I dont know if your going to be coming to Canada in 2007 and do some music, but I would love to attend if it happens. I just met Sergio today and he speaking to me about the times he got to meet you and chat a bit, it was great. He told me he met you wife ( A french Lady from Quebec...excellent choice my friend....they say the Quebec ladies are the most beautiful in the world!!!! Where do you live now Frank?....What are you hobbies, pass times. Do you still write? What kind of stuff do you like to read? Sergio also told me you had three precious daughters....I'm happy for you...family is the most important thing in life!!! I know you have a wide fan base..and that your privacy is probably of utmost importance, but I'd sure love to meet you some day...with Sergio...to get to know Frank Marino the man, not the RockStar. I'm sure we would have a lot to chat about, musically and about life in general. I hope you responp to this e-mail though I was quite lenghty and detailed, sorry about that. Taught you would appreciate hearing about some passionate musician story. Music has always been my passion and it will be til the day I die.

Cheers Frank and may God bless you and your loved ones abundantly...Cheers...JC

Nice to fing this site with all this Marino stuff. Love the guy's music, he stands out as a musician with something to say, a voice in the wilderness, a creative and refreshing musician something to sink your musical teeth in.

Aloha Frank -

Glad your still rockin' after all these years. I've been a fan for 36+ years &
have 2 "SG's" myself. My first was a cheap 1973 SGI that I modified into a 2 PU Standard. Recently I got a mint 1980 that I restored w/ new hardware. Thanks for all the great guitar playing & music that you have shared/entertained us fans with for so long. I'm glad that Hard Rock is coming back in style and the past glory of the 70's-80's will be reborn, for us classic blues rock fans. The best to you always, take care & keep on Rockin!

Thanks so much for all of the excellent music you've given us for the last three and a half decades!!! You are an extremely talented musician, and a real inspiration to me and my own playing. I've always found it very ironic that you're main choice of axe over the years has prominently been the Gibson SG, as it's made mostly of Mahogany - LOL. If you keep playin', we'll keep listening.

Frank,
I caught your show back in the early 80's at a club called "The Iron Horse" in Minneapolis Minnesota.
That show left a huge impression on me as to who really was and still is a "Guitar God".
You are truly one of the great Riffmasters of all time.
And I should know, I've seen just about all of them live: Vai, Beck, Malmsteen, Blackmore, Schenker, Steve Morse, Lifeson, need I say more?
You fricken Rock!
Peace.
Sincerely,
"The Riffmaster General"

Hi There,

you are awesome! I really dig your playing, and it truly has feel and atmosphere. I started playing when I was 14, and I am now 35. I wish I had heard your music earlier! I have always listened to jimi, robin and srv. I read a book about jimi, which informed me that you sounded abit like him. I was finally able to purchase a cd repackaging of your album: child of novelty, maxoom and strange universe. Sweet! I love it all! I wish I knew where I could see you perform live, but I don't know where you would play in the states, and I doubt it would be very close for me. Are there any dvd's of you live? At least I could watch a recorded version.
Thanks for you awesome tunes!
peace and release,
Drake

Well I'm 22 and just began playin the guitar about 6 months ago. My Uncle has played forever and we were talkin about music and I told him about how much I dig Hendrix's stuff, he told me about this site and said I should check it out. Well let me just say that I was blown away with what I heard. There was a few times when I swear I was listening to Jimi. Great stuff!!!

Frank,
You are the best guitar player ever next to my favorite Jimi Hendrix. I do have to admit you are running neck and neck with Hendrix. I hope you are taking this as a very favorable comment to your outstanding guitarship!!
Hope to hear from you, and a new release soon.

Peace,
Joe Tarantino

Frank:

Just wanted to say that I think your one of if not the best guitar players on the planet, Hendrix himself would be proud and I know he is listening.
Do you still perform Purple Haze and when will you be back to Atlanta?
Who plays the synthesizer in Strange Dreams?
And I 've got to know what effects you used doing Purple Haze on the LIVE album?
Thanks for taking the time to read and respond to these questions and keep on Rockin!!!!!!!!! Your the GREATEST!!!!!!!

I first heard Frank Marino on a compilation LP in the eighties. I don't remember the name but it was centered on guitar oriented rock artists. I was an aspiring guitarist at the time and he was the only artist I hadn't heard of that was on the album. After listening to the cut selected which was King Bee, I was completely and absolutely floored. It was clear to me that he was head and shoulders above the others on the album in terms of proficiency, phrasing and sheer musicality. Frank can play fast and slow but never loses soul on anything I've heard, which is so refreshing. I've been a huge fan ever since.

One of the absolute best players, a true guitar hero and, next to SRV ( sorry Frank , but you're in good company) my favorite guitarist of all time.
