I have followed Frank ever since I first heard of him in the 70's... Fantastic guitarist that plays from the heart and soul... I have never heard him "sell out" and compromise his music... If it isn't done with feeling, it just isn't done at all !!! I met Frank and the original band line up after a show in the 70's at the warner theatre in Washington DC and was invited back to his motel to hang out... I sat on the bed as Frank placed himself on the floor benieth me as we talked so I wouldn't have to look up at him... This action reflected his not wanting anyone to concider him a "guitar god", (as I did at that time), but a simple down home musician that isn't any different than anyone else... Just another lost soul trying to say something, be heard, and touch some lives thru his music... We spent the evening talking about drag cars and personal things instead of music along with my lifes story... He seemed more interested in my story rather than telling me of his own... After a few hrs. the room started to fill up with others that seemed to jump all over Frank with the typical questions that fans have, so I decided to leave... My wife and I also met Frank for breakfast the following morning because she wanted pictures to prove that we really did hang with the guy... I still feel bad because she called him and woke him up... He invited us over to have breakfast with him and ended up staying late for his trip to the next gig... We took pictures with him and the other band members and I still display them on my wall next to Jimi and Stevie Ray Vaughn... I had an airbrushed painting of Frank playing the guitar done from an artist in England... It is about 4ft. by 5ft. and hangs on my wall next to our bed... Frank is a very personable, heart felt man in a world of users and takers... I am still very proud of his work and would love for him to come back on a tour thru the US in the near future... I have also used his drummer, Tim Berry, in the studio for some drumming and producing because I always end up in a band that is somewhat like the mahogany rush we all love and miss so much... I must leave thanks to Jimi, Stevie Ray, and Frank Marino for touching my soul thru their guitar playing and music... Truely one of the greats in my book of six string guitar slingers............ ROCK ONWARD and UPWARDS FRANK !!! Keep it kool and burn some more sounds, it's always a RUSH !!! With love always, Jerry (silent_dark_drummer)
