I first heard Frank,s Music on 78,s live album on radio in England.I immediately went to the local record store to buy a copy and i have been hooked ever since.I had the pleasure of seeing Frank only once at the Port Vale Heavy Metal Holocaust in England.I was Lucky enough to have a back stage pass to the gig and managed to get Frank to sign my program, which is something i treasure. My favorite song from The Power of Rock&Roll is Ditch Queen this must be the ultimate guitar song.Stunning performance from begining to end.

Saw you in 1978 in Cleveland at the rock and roll marathon. I moved to Houston in 1980, but every show I bought tickets for ended up being cancelled. Why? Found a copy (imported) of Strange Universe on CD four years ago (somebody stole my tape deck and bootleg "stolen" copy fifteen years ago). Never could find the album, new or used. I found religion again. Thanks. Jordan Jones (Sans SG)

Queen Bee Live... need I say more. Sure wish we could get a great guitarist to come shake up this rock-n-roll haven we call Texas. Come on down Frank.

Frank is one of those rare guitarist that actually take off leaving the band and audience behind. Catch him if you can. He is in his own world, an adrelinine rush, or rather mahagony rush. Note the solo in Talkin Bout a Feelin on the live album. It's like a jet taking off. We are mere birds, watching the jet in awe.

I'm so glad to run across this page! I followed a link from the Randy Hansen site to it. I have almost all of Frank's music, with a couple more recent exceptions I now am aware of. Gosh, I thought Frank was dead or retired or something! I saw Frank and Mahogany Rush play here in the Kansas City area many years ago [wild guess-- 1973?] at Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kansas. I was seated on the main floor. For some reason I can't remember I couldn't tape record it, as was my fashion in those days. What a loss! Anyway, the one song I do remember Frank playing was an astounding version of "Blues." I've always admired Frank's guitar work and music, and his poetry set to music. Perhaps that's the thing in Frank that most reminds me of Jimi Hendrix-- the inspirational poetry. Other great guitarists like Robin Trower never had the poetry come naturally to them. Frank, if you ever come back to Kansas City, I'd love to hear you play!

Well, someone from Europe (judging from a brief view to the guestbook most of the subscribers are North Americans) and maybe the only one from Greece. At last a wonderful site about one of the greatest guitarists ever been. I wanted a long time ago to contact with you but due to University obligations that was rather difficult.I read some months ago an interview of Frank in greek metal hammer and really liked it.Frank denies the rumours about "the Hendrix reincarnation" and speaks about his future plans. About the music what to say? Only a few musicians play so melodically and emotionally like Mahogany Rush. Also congradulations to the designer of this site.Very informative & impressive layout. Finally I just want to ask about the 1999 tour and if Great Britain ,where I temporalely live, is included. With best regards Another -among thousants- fan

Frank's been kickin' my ass since 1973 when I heard my first Mahogany Rush Album. A friend of my brother left his "Child" on my turntable. I couldn't believe my ears. Since then, I've seen Frank many times. First was when he opened for Kansas and Queen in St. Louis. WHOA!!! He ended the show with the national anthem...again, I couldn't believe my ears. Then I got IV, and "The Answer", a song I've yet to put on any stereo and have it be able to crank that song loud enough. When he came to St. Louis as the headliner in front of some schlock band that we booed off the stage, he kicked our asses with the most incredible feat of guitar wizardry I've ever witnessed. That crowd of 5000 was so in sync with every note...we was hypnotized. Always been a fan, always be a fan. Frank, keep on bringing it. Pete

I got my introduction to the music of Mahogany Rush back in the early 80's. I borrowed a copy of the Tales of the Unexpected album from my cousin. I thought it was pretty good, so I went prospecting for more down at the local record shop. I saw a very strange looking album cover that got my attention. "What the hell is that!", I said to myself as I examined the cover. It was Child of the Novelty. "Looks good, I'll buy it". I remember the drive home. I was anxious to hear this record with the weird-looking sleeve. I went down the basement and fired up the old tube stereo. While the amps warmed up, I rolled a healthy joint of Ohio's finest organic herbs. I turned down the lights and let the needle drop to the vinal disc waiting below. "Holy shit", I thought as this guitar sound tore a hole right through my head. It was incredible. Song after song. So I just sat there in the dark. Only the soft glow of the tubes to remind me that I was still on planet earth. This is music from the outer reaches of inner space. Just tearing and pulling back the curtain to let the unknown come into my fragile concept of reality and reshape it. Things would be different from now on. I was hearing colors and getting a guided tour of the astral plains.Like Hendrix, but not a clone or someone trying to rip him off. When I heard "Chains of Pace", damn! This guy is really out there. From Maxoom to Full Circle, I had many sessions with my Mahogany Rush albums... so necessarily stoned and beautiful.

All I can say is , Frank is definitly the most critically under-apprieciated guitar/songwriters ever on this planet. who else but Frank has the capacity of soul and spirit to write the WORLD ANTHEM ?!! We should take a lesson from him and unite as one and respect all walks of life , be it on Earth or otherwise. It's a strange universe , but we're all part of it. Hey Frank! How's it goin'? Just know that there are a lot of people out here who love what you do. I can't wait to hear the new CD! Keep on rockin' the blues!!

Hey Frank, Long time, no hear. Found out from Rick Derringer that you were still alive and well. This web site has really caught me up to speed. Really looking forward to the possibility of catching a show sometime in the near future. Golden CO has a venue that would be perfect. It's called the Buffalo Rose.Your buddies Ricky Medlock and Rick Derringer play their quite often. Pure Roadhouse in every respect. Be great to see you up here in the high country, but I'm not sure its national enough for you, although Chris Duarte and Tab Benoit play here quite regularly. Wherever you play, if its within a 100 miles of here, We'll see you there. Red Rocks would definately be the ultimate. Meanwhile, if you're ever in the Breckenridge area needing a place to crash or just wondering where the good "powder runs" are, give us a yell. If we can do any local promotions for you, definately call upon. Be cool and keep on jamm'in. Mike and Jennifer

I've been introtroduced to Frank's music by a friend in 1994 Since, it hasn't left my stereo! I've bought all cd's that were available but "What's next" of course. Well frank, do you plan touring in Europe and especially in France? It would be great!

I got turned onto to Mahogany Rush roughly around 1974 when I first heard some songs from Child Of The Novelty. At the time to be truthful, I was more struck by the album artwork on that than I recall the music, but with the release of Strange Universe, I grew up enough in my musical taste that I realized that both the artwork and the music inside were of the greatest quality that I had seen or heard in some time. Then in 1978 I was fortunate enough to be invited by a friend to see Mahogany Rush in concert in Norfolk, VA. At that time general admission still was pretty acceptable for concerts, so we got there early and lo and behold, I got right up against the stage next to a women in a white dress who was probably the most beautiful woman I had seen. After starting a conversation with her and finding out she was trying to catch Frank's attention (which I think he would have had to be blind not to see her!), we settled in to watch the concert. After Mother's Finest left the stage (another good group) Mahogany Rush came on and I proceeded to be blown away (interpret that as you will) more than I can ever recall being moved by any band before. There were cathedral organ riffs, rock and roll, and everything else under the sun coming from this dudes guitar. After the show, my friend and I were leaving and I recall thinking to myself "This is one night that I'll never, ever forget". And I haven't. Thanks Frank, Jimmy and Paul for the great memory. Since then I have kept up my collection of Mahogany Rush (total of 6 cd's so far) and finally located both Child Of The Novelty and Strange Universe on vinyl in order to contemplate the artwork from time to time and consider just what a "Strange Universe" this can truly be.
