I have been listening to Mahogany Rush since the Mahogany Rush Live album was released and became an essential as part of anyones record collection. That year two amazing things happened in heavy music, one was Double Live Gonzo, the other the excellent MR Live, with Electric Reflections of War. Those two albums changed my lifestyle in many ways and I scoured the record shops for other MR albums. Could I find any NO. So I eventually found a small independent store that ordered the albums in specially for me so that I bought all the CBS stuff to date. The next problem was to get the first three albums, but no to my horror they had been deleted, a refernce on the live album I now understood. Until last year I searched High and low for a copy of those records but could not find them any where ( I now have them on CD, What is it about record company's that albums previously not considered viable for selling and hence deleted are resurrected when a new format comes in ? MONEY I suspect) I tried to see Frank live in concert here in the UK, but the Gigs were usually so poorly advertised that they were over before I got to find out about them and so to this day I have never seen Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush live on stage. (If Frank ever comes to the UK, I shall make sure that I am on the front row !) Frank Marino's music could not be pigeonholed nicely, some tracks are delicate, some sad, while others are out and out rock and that is exactly why I can listen to an album that I bought 21 years ago and still not get bored. The same could be said for Uli Roth who also has had a turbulent time with record companies. I still have all my original Vinyl copies of the MR and Frank Marino Albums and am slowley getting the CD versions. ( again as I can find them) BTW I was in Montreal for a couple of days last August with my famliy, It's been an ambition of mine for many years due to the MR connection, what a beautiful city! (Still no CD's even in Franks home City). I don't know waht else to say really apart from the fact that I have been listening to Frank Marino for 21 years and I love all of his music. My Wife and I have had many a romatic evening in with 'It's begun to rain' and 'IV'. The music brought a lot into my life and continues to do so till this day.
