» Favorite Album: Tales Of The Unexpected
Frank,
I first was exposed to your music back in the 70s, when the rumours about "Hendrix' Ghost" were so popular. I never took the tale seriously but I really enjoyed the music then, as I do now. I think it is a shame that some people have pigeonholed your style and sort of put down your music by throwing around names like "Henrdix wannabe" (not only you, but some other extremely talented guitarists like Robin Trower and Adrian Gurvitz...) Just because there is a similarity in styles that doesnt demean the quality of the music.
Anyway I was listening to some of your old albums recently wanted to write to tell you how much I appreciate your contributions to music, and to music fans, not only with your guitar but also some REALLY powerful lyrics. Though I listed my favourite album as "Tales...", that is mainly because your guitar playing had become so much more mature. In terms of powerful messages though, and sheer energy in the music, TAles of the Unexpected and Juggernaut are albums that really are as relevant today as they were in the early 70s. Listening to songs like "Free" and "Juggernaut" ... especially just a day after the US presidential debates ... is a total mindfuck -- you could have written the exact same lyrics today.
OK I wont ramble on any more, but I hope this message gets to you and you receive my sincere thanks for all you have done for music lovers like me. I would LOVE to see you live, again, before I die. If you ever get to play in Japan, You can count on at least one insanely-cheering fan in the front row. (me)
