Yeah... I've told the story before, about being stationed on the island of Guam in the US Air Force, 1979-1981... Playing cards in someone's dorm room one night and listening to this amazing music, one song after another, next one as great as the last... I asked "Who IS this...?" "It's Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush."... "Why have I never heard of them before..." "Because up north, ya'll are listening to The Cars..." The Album was Tales of the Unexpected... I'm a musician, (bassist) and had nothing to do on Guam but practice a lot... I got deep into the playing of Paul Harwood, as well as a lot of other great players of the time, Peter Cowling, Getty Lee... There are so many GREAT guitarist, singer, song writers around today, but for me, no one has ever captured what ever it is that reaches me, musically, like Frank Marino... Play on Frank...

I have been a fan since before I saw Mahogany Rush live in concert in 1978. I have seen Frank play the most awesome guitar at 6 more live shows since then.

I saw him live when I was 16, (which is now more then 30 years ago)
and for me it is still one of the best performances I ever saw.
When you come on tour to Belgium, be sure I will be present.

Better late than never would be my tale. Saw A kid in 1980 wearing a Frank Marino shirt, tonight 1/17/2013 the name popped in my head again. Checked out Mahogany Rush and Voodoo Chile on you tube.
I'm going to get me some Mahogany and play it loud.
that is all no more no less.

I remember seeing Frank Marino in the 70's in Corpus Christi Texas, I was amazed that he played like Jimi Hendrix.

God Bless you Frank for all you have played....and still play.
I am a very dedicated man who supports the service men, from WWII on up, and every time I play " Stories of Hero", it takes my breath away and a tear in my eye. The lyrics are very deep and emotional. Every person should listen to them and realize what they really say.
When you play "Amazing Grace" live, I feel as if you play it for all people. It is beautiful.
God Bless you Frank and all your lovely ladies.
I hope I can see you again when you come back on tour, wherever that may be.

Been in Texas for 12 years. Very exposed to Jonny & Edgar in these parts, as well as the good 'ole Texas sound. I'm also tight w/ a couple of tube gurus making their own design amps, ah there for Fender guitars I think, ha ha.

Miss the bay area alot, that's where I'm from, but could not take the whole deal anymore. Was into astronmany as I heard you were! But I was down the pininsula towards Los Altos. I did hear that you were a star gazer though! Cool man!

Hope you are do'in well these days. Your name came up talking about Jimmie H. My favorite place to see you play? On a flatbed trailer parked at Big Basin man! That would be really nice. Well take care Frank. You will never be forgotten brother!

Hello Frank! I have been a fan of yours for at least 35 years now. I saw you back in 1977 or 1978 at the San Antonio Convention Center Arena. I am also half Italian. My mother is Hispanic from San Antonio, Tx. and my father was born in Carsoli, Italy La'Aquila region. I've been playing guitar ever since I was 7 years old. I am 49 years old now. My favorite guitar is the Gibson SG of course. I must confess to you that you have been a major influence in my musical career. Jimi Hendrix, Robin Trower, Michael Schenker & Richie Blackmore just to name a few more. I do have my own Classic Rock Band called BLACK THUNDER. I have opened up for Michael Schenker @ the Backstage Live in San Antonio and UFO at the Sunken Gardens Arena also in San Antonio Tx. My long time dream has been to open up for you at one of your Concerts in San Antonio. I came real close to jamming with you when you played at the Cadillac Bar in San Antonio Tx. You know It's ok to dream Frank. They say that dreams do come true. To my greatist idol. God Bless You Frank! Your fan Walter Alexis.

Hey w'sup, smile
Just noticed you page. Thought I'd stop by. Was present @ Austin gig in 1977. I think it was the Armadillo. Was a little ripped. I DO know I had a GREAT time...front row center...
Was on a website station and "World Anthem" was mentioned. Immediately went to youtube and listened to it... brought back memories. So, became curious if you guys were still touring....I know we "ain't gettin younger."
My turn table failed me years ago. Been toting albums for about 30 years and have not been played. Also, computer illiterate.
Getting to the point....after visiting your BIO page, I noticed Frank and I share the same Birthday...November 20th...although you are 3 years my senior...Finally. I feel young again. PEACE Bruddah...and Keep-a-Rockin'
[ Jamming to "LIVE" right now...me and my "air guitar solo" ]

Well Willy, I think you are one of the BEST !! Cheers !! and yes God Bless
(Marvelous web site by the way) I started to play some chords on my guitar when I was about 10-11 y/o.
When I was 15-16 years old, a friend of mine (Roch Schnupp.) brought me to an old shack in Wendover Ontario, where all the new friends I met :Mario *Marino* Leclerc, Serge St-Pierre, Richard St-Pierre, Lucette Laliberte, Manon Cyr, Louis Cyr, Michel Cyr, Francine Lepage, Marthe Cyr, Laurier Cyr, Perry Lanoue, Dan Lanoue... /
and I've been introduced to F.M & M.R music, every weekend almost, I used to bring my guitar and amp and jam with Louis Cyr (keyboard player) we were jamming roughly, Strange Universe and other few other song, and improvising instrumental tunes too. I wasn't a great guitar player then, but we had fun, raising up our amps full blass in the Shack.

I saw my first Marino concert, I think it's in 1976 at " Place Des Nations" Montreal. I never forgot and still remember like if it was yesterday, the guitar solo Frank did, he was high up playing his guitar, with strobe lights... the crowd was wild, seeing Frank up on a type of stage alone doing his guitar solo. It was a great night. I saw Frank at the Barrymore's in Ottawa many years after, Vince was the rythm guitar then, another great night. A friend of mine (Perry Lanoue) made T-Shirts with the face of Frank on it, then after the concert, Perry went backstage (lucky guy) to give one to Frank, he had a VIP pass, Perry still have a photo giving Frank a T-Shirt. Good old days.

Last November, I just turned 55 y/o on the 20th, just like Frank (That is funny) I still play guitar, but not like Frank smile))) I played in a few different bands, cover tunes (Classic Rock). The last Band I played for last time was "Helium" in 2005 till 2008, we got at least 160 gigs in 3 years, but I decide to quit for a while, was getting to old for that, the hard part was arriving at home at 4:30-5:00am and transporting the equipement. I took one year off and think about what to do musically. Then I decide to find some guys that would be interested to do a Tribute to F.M & M.R. I call an old friend (singer Sylvain *Barb* Lalonde) that I played with about 25 years ago with "Mindscape) , if he'll be interested to be the lead singer for a Marino tribute, cause I can't hardly sing and play at the same time, specialy "Dragon Fly, The Answer etc..."

I find that Barb has a voice that sound like Frank. Barb accept to try, then I found a great bass player (Guy Dagenais) and another old friend of mine on drums (Mike Tremblay), We've been together for the pass 9 months I think, we want an hour and half two hours of music to start getting gigs, we are getting not bad at all so far, we did 2 party gigs at a friend and it went not bad at all, but we want to get better and better.

I am not a pro. guitar player, I work five days a week, but I am proud of what I do so far for that special tribute. My favourite album is the LIVE 78, everytime I play that album in my car, full blast, I still have goose bumps and the fact that now I started the tribute,
I pretend I¡¦m playing, and dreaming of being in front of hundreds of thousand people watching me, like a teenager¡¦s dream, then tears come down¡K.Thinking will it happen one day ? ƒº God Bless
