Frank,

Heard Strange Univers while active duty military in Korea, got me thru the tough times. After years of looking finally found it on CD some time ago. I turned a friend on to Land of 1000 Nights just yesterday and it blew him away....

Rock On!

Took me awhile to bother to look up F.M. on the 'net. Very interesting what he's been up to. The only time I saw him was at Detroit's Cobo Arena with Triumph and Blue Oyster Cult in the early 80's. I have Maxoom (album), Strange Universe(on tape) and Live 1978 (on tape) I didnt pirate them, but them to tape to play in the car. Those two albums (can you tell how old I am?) were stolen by some thievin' magpy. Pretty cool how some of my favorite guitarists are from Canada. ( Just across the river from me. ) Frank, Alex, Pat, KIm, Rik and a short lived band from Montreal called Uzeb(? you-zeb)) My 11 yr old son stands apart from the rest of the kids 'cause of my non-staus quo choice of music. Played guitar since 14. Oops times up, gotta go. Peace!

Saw Frank and Mahogany Rush in the 70's in Houston. I think it might have been with Trower as the headliner but it was impressive. Its good to know that Marino is still bending strings.

A friend of mine back in 78 let me borrow a couple of "albums" that summer. The live album was one of them along with judas priest. Well I was sold! I still have that same live album and yes it's still in mint condition. The judas priest album i don't remember what i did with it, oh well. I was 15 years old that summer and saw tales of the unexpected at a nearby record store. I had to have it, so I mowed some yards, sold some soda bottles for their deposit until I saved the whopping $5 for the album. I still have that album and it doesn't have one single scratch on it! I'm in my late 40's now I own this new thing called an Ipod which now has Frank Marino on it including, the live and tales of the unexpected albums, and quite a few more. Who'd a thought Frank Marino would still be with me 30 plus years later. I've noticed that some fans seem to associate drugs with Frank's music, well I've never done ANY drugs yet his music is something I still get into and listen to endlessly. Drop the Marino music for drug excuses, appreciate what he puts out for just what it is, fantastic.

Frank,

Are you all ever gonna make it to Florida? I saw you with, I believe, Riot and Triumph back in the early 80s. Picked up Power of R&R at that time and your solos just blew me away. I now have it on CD. At the show you played Hendrixs' Star Spangled Banner and there was not one person sitting in the whole arena. Just awesome.

It is one of the best album covers that i have, besides being a great album. later i found your live album. I am taping I'm a king bee baby as I write. Wow!!!!! If you are ever playing in northern california please let me know please. I am a fan for life. I make a lot of tapes and share them with my friends. Every time I put your music on one people always call and say "Who is that" You should be in the rock and roll hall of fame. your fan forever Barney Marr

Dear frank,
I saw you in nashville at the canery & was totally floored. it changed the way i look at my playing & music.Knoxville is very set in it's ways about music. i totally hate it. I play in a AC-DC tribute band right now& really like it.I've also played ace frehley in a KISS tribute band. I personally need to ask your opinion & advice on getting started on my own solo stuff, especially now with the way the economy is going.

thanks for your inspiration

Saw Frank twice in the seventies at the Warehouse in New Orleans. They were my favorite band at the time. Worked at a gas station outside New Orleans, the band stopped in for gas right after I left work. My buddy told me about it and I was bummed. So I went and saw them. Quit a job at the Hearty Burger to go see them with a friend another time. My boss wouldn't give me time off. AWESOME guitar, but the thing I remember most was Jimmy's drums. The sound touched my soul. Rock On dudes.

Been a fan since I saw Mahogany Rush open for Black Sabbath around 1974 or 1975 in Sacramento,California with Ruby Star & Grey Ghost (of Black Oak Arkansas fame)thrown in for filler. Anyone else at that concert? Sabbath played like 6 songs and claimed system malfunction after Frank and Ruby played their sets. Since Ozzy and the boys were the headliners (everyone there new who the headliner really was after the show....Mahogany Rush blew the doors and windows out of the place.....took no prisoners....no names....and totally kicked ass) everyone got a refund for the tickets. Speaking of Black Oak Arkansas(and to be honest I wasn't a fan....I didn't care for Jim Dandy's vocals) but I found out recently that they had one helluva guitar player by the name of Shawn Lane who at 16 years old and along with Frank Marino also around 16 years old were head and shoulders better players than Clapton,Blackmore or any of the others.Anyway I got to see Frank and crew again in 1984 in Oklahoma City opening for R.E.O.Speedwagon(again wrong headliner).
Any chance Mr.Marino of making the Tulsa area one of your tour stops in the future...would damn sure love to see you perform one more time.
On behalf of myself and all the other fans that were fortunate enough to get the autographed copy of the Real Live CD...thank you!

Hello. Searching for cool Rock music in my local record store around 1980,I came across,Tales of the unexpected. At that time I was Listening to Van halen, Black Sabath,Blue oyster cult,Zepplin,Doors, etc. I think I just bought the album because the cover looked cool. When I listened to it, I was blown away,(as I never heard of Mahogany Rush or Frank Marino before). I couldn't beleive that me or my freinds hadn't been privy to this guy. That didn't last long. I soon had all my freinds, their freinds and their older brothers and their freinds into Frank. I can't beleive that we all discovered Mahogany Rush because of a Flukey record buy. We all soon had Frank mixed in with our other albums,(Supertramp, The Who, The Scorpions, Creedance Cleerwater, and the aboved mentioned, etc). In our minds Mahogany Rush was right up there and equal too These bands.I used to cruise around in my 72 ss chevelle , and at a cruiseing pitstop,if Frank was on people would ask ,Wow, Who 's that. I think I really turned alot of people on to frank.
Was it bad marketing,or just relying on word of mouth, because everywhere I went people never heard of Mahogany Rush, but were instant fans when they had a taste.
Anyway, Rock on ,you are my favorite.
Steve..........
