Frank :
I very much appreciate what you said about covering James M. Hendricks. You guys aren't the only ones. I was covering Hendrix when he was still alive and people were really possesive about someone else doing the covers. Heck, I just coved Frank Sinatra and Count Basie. Go figure.

I was a fan back in the 78 I was a senior in high school. Smoking weed and listing to your music, those were great times back then.

I am glad to see you online and I can enjoy your music once again.

Just a note to tell you that you are the best Rock guitarist I've ever heard. Saw you in Madison, Wisconsin in 1974, but equipment failure prevented you from doing a full show. Hope you are not finished recording as I visit your website often to see if you've released anything new. Pleaseeeee!

Frank you are one of the best there is. You have inspired me and enriched my life and I'm sure the lives of many others. I think you are a pure artist and expressionist . Some of the most powerful musicians of all time came out of the sixties, seventies and eighties. You are one of those most powerful artists. Thanks to you and others like you, I was compelled to to play guitar.... now it is the best thing to ever happen to me. I dont own a toaster or a remote control for the television but I own 13 stratocasters. Playing guitar is more than using your fingers to change the pitch of the strings... the music must come from within... I learned that from you.

Infinite thanks

Back in 1975 I was twelve years old and someone in my neigborhood threw away about 50 to 60 albums out by the sidewalk. Maybe a pissed off wife/girlfriend, Who knows? I was just getting into music and I took all these albums home. Among these gift from God was Maxoom and Strange Universe. The covers were really cool as you all know. But when I played them, I was introduced to whole new world of soundscapes. As I mentioned I was just getting into music and up until that day I had only listened to a few records my parents owned. The Beatles Rubber Soul was one of them. So finding this amount of music was awesome and a blessing.Back to Maxoom and Strange Universe, Wow!! I was Blown away. The sound of Frank's guitar was the most amazing thing I'd ever listened to. I've heard it said that music is the language of the soul and Frank's music touched mine forever. Thank you Frank Marino for all the great music you've created over the years and continue to do. I've never had the pleasure of seeing you perform live but I won't give up hope on that. I'm sure everyone on this site will agree with me that we'd all would love to see you tour again on more time. God bless you my friend, Rock On!!

In 75, in the 8th grade, this guy knew i was a Hendrix fan so he said, Hey I got something for you. So the next day he brought in Maxoom and Strange Universe and let me borrow them. I took them home and listened and became an instant fan. To me it was the same thing like Clapton, Leslie West, Santana, just a guitar-first style that I was used to with Hendrix. I was absolutely blown away. From that point on it was Frank all the way. And when I turned others on it was the same reaction. I vividly remember when Mahogany Rush IV came out the next year, my brother calling me from work to tell me, I've seen Frank 8 or 9 times, all great over the years. I'm sorry to say Frank hasn't received the credit due him musically. It's sad. I thought he did everything well and covered all the bases, songs like It's Begun To Rain, Jive Baby. When I play these songs for people it makes me look like a genius for just having this type of music. I thought his best album was Juggernaut. My personal fav is IV. I'm from Washington D.C. and am now a born-again Christian African-American, but I still know the name Frank Marino. Sometimes, when old friends see me, they just stop and say Mahogany Rush, just between me and you, I still have some Frank, he's still my favorite. I know that many of my black brothers and sisters were impressed and entertained. Guys and gals that dug Funkadelic and R&B from the 60's, 70's, and 80's liked it when I played Sister Change or Dragonfly, It's Begun To Rain. My personal fav was The Answer, a song that on the live shows devastated the crowds from the first moment on, when the live album came out. I was so proud and Mahogany Rush received more air play and exposure all around, and everybody else's fav guitarist just got blown away whenever I played the live album, or any Marino album for that matter. I could write this review all day. Much love to Jim Ayoub, Paul Harwood and Timm Biery, who attended my high school in Maryland Northwestern High. Frank, I understood what you were doing and why you were doing it from the first moment. I'd just like to say I have always loved you and the Mahogany Rush family dearly, and you're still an inspiration for me, all these years. Feel free to hit my mail box. It would be a thrill for my life time. Thanks for giving me The Answer. carrollhubbardrocketmail@yahoo.com

It broke my heart when Rolling Stone magazine's Top 100 Guitarists list came out and Frank's name wasn't on it. Frank is so underated. I've seen him live four times and dig all of his music, but Eye Of The Storm is his crowning achievement. The last time he was in Omaha (I think it was 2008) at a free to the public concert, he blew everyone away. I certainly hope he puts out more music for us to buy and, of course, will go see him anytime he is near my area....

Frank,
A group of about five of my friends and I have been with you since
1975. We first saw you at a small venue, The New Leona Theater in
Homestead Pa near Pittsburgh. You were amazing and you blew us all
Away. I'll never forget it. A couple of those guys are no longer
With us, but every time I hear your songs it feels like they are still here
With me. Keep rockin' brother, and we'll keep listening!

Oh my Gosh !!! I forgot how much I miss and Love this kind of music from the 70's. Frank, thanks for sharing your talent with the world. I was just watching some old footage of CCR and Grand Funk Railroad, I was so amazed at the sound and quality of their music. After CCR finished one song, the audience sat quietly while the band tuned up before their next song- towards the end was a different story-lol; Grand Funk on the other hand just kept the audience entertained without all the hype-i.e. back up dancers, flash and trash; Man ! it was just great music all the way around...Thanks again, Frank, and thanks for not selling out. Now I will look for a Frank Marino bumper sticker to put on my auto for nostalgia.
