Hi Frank!
I'm guessing 1976 @ the Nat'l Arts Centre in Ottawa. I would've been 15 or so. You blew us away! I think you were one of the first rockshows @ the NAC. There was no smoking, kinda uptight atmosphere for us young kids when we got there - fancy building and all. Anyway crowd was quiet (at first) and you said, "What is it against the law to make some noise in Ottawa?" My friends and I were 3 rows back to my right of the stage. We went nuts! You came over to our side of the stage and acknowleged our racket by playing over to our side of the stage. (If memory serves you kept it up for the rest of the show). To a young aspiring guitarist that meant a lot. I have told the story too many times in more than 30 yrs. That night was the first time I realised that a guitar god is just a person. You are special in my list of guitar heroes. Your playing has soul - AND SO DO YOU.
Thanks - never stop...
Pete

Hello, I'm not sure who I'm addressing here, but if it''s you Frank I saw you in Wilkesbarre,Pennsylvania at the Penn jam 1979, Pocinno Downs race track. I really went down to see Scorpions not knowing that Ulrich Roth had just left the band, they only played about a 25 or 30 minutes warming up for the roster of about 8 or 9 bands with top of the bill being Ted Nugent. "Well for all of you fans out there who want the real low down from me and by the way I feel that I'm a darn good lead guitar player myself from the very same camps as Michael Schecker, Ulrich Roth, so I'm speak without prejudice from a musicians standpoint when I say that I like Ted Nugent especially Hibernation and his early to mid period stuff but Frank Marino really blew Ted right off the stage with his fluid fretboard mastery & tone, they also wheeled out another amp cause Frank burned out the 1st one, the dive bombing and explosion sounds were awesome. Like to meet you & shake your hand Frank, if your ever down around Saratoga Springs I'd be honored.

Frank, have seen you guys perform 9 times in my life and like a drug cannot get enough. Have also been sober 17 years now and wow are things diffrent. The last time you played the mid-atlantic at the birchmere and rams head I saw both shows and talked afterward with you. I was so inspired to start playing drums again I bought a set and have been taking lessons from no other than your former drummer Timm Biery. I went to see him play here locally and got to talking to him and we were able to set somethings up and begin working together and it has been awsome. Not only has my love of music expanded but have been learning from the nicest person Timm and by far one of the top drummers, teachers and people. Look forward to 010 tour and will continue to spend valuble time in the basement doing rudiment exersises, working on my ear and playing rock and blues which is what I love. Thanks, Chris Wire

I am very pleased to know that you are, first of all, still alive, and second, still playing. You are without a doubt one of the top guitarists of all time. Here's to sobriety, I'm 25 years in and still going. God bless you and yours.

I was 15 when I went to my first concert. It was 1979, and we went to see Aerosmith at Greensboro Coliseum in North Carolina. We did not even know we had to sit through another band before getting to see them and were kind of pissed because we knew that meant less time for Aerosmith. Little did my brother and I know that we were getting ready to see the best live performance we, to this day 30 years later, would ever see. When we are with friends talking about the best concerts we've ever seen, the night we saw Mahogany Rush open for Aerosmith is still without a doubt the best ever. The strobes, the sound, the endless playing by Frank(in one song he was wearing one guitar out then took the strap off and started playing it on the ground while someone hung another guitar around his neck and he stood up playing it without ever missing a note, then wore that one out too), all this sound coming from the 3 guys on stage, it blew away everyone there. The cheers after the music were almost as loud as the show. Aerosmith struggled that night, but who could follow that. The next day my mom bought us the live album and we relived the whole thing over and over again, sharing that album with everyone we knew, and I still pull it out at parties and turn people of all ages on to it. I need to get it on CD because the album has a couple of skips in it, but it still sounds cool.
Thank you. It is both awesome and a bit disappointing that the first show I ever saw, was and still is, the best one.
