Well, it was 1974, Buffalo N.Y. in the Rose Garden--opening for Little Feat, I think. They never got to play; a small riot broke out and lots of cops and dogs came and that was it. As we were walking out of the wooded area of the park we could hear music and thought they were playing Hendrix from the PA between band setups. Well, we noticed very soon the music was a bit different. Hurried out and made it up to the front row and was so struck by the power, tone quality and heavy vibe of this trio that I soon felt tears running down my face. As I wiped my eyes I thought, "shit, what'll my buddys think. " Tough steel-town boys and all

My good buddy Bryan was doing the same thing. We still joke that it was pollen or something in the air... I think the band played just Jimi stuff at that show and I'm pretty sure Frank asked a guy from the audience up to jam on Johnny Be Good. Frank played an early 60's 'burst Strat and 4 stacks--Acoustic, Fender, Ampeg, and Marshall, I think. Gobs o'pedals too. Well, after 25 years I still buy, sell, and repair guitars, in CA now, and I still think of that day and many other Frank shows I've seen and refer back to Frank and Paul (fretless bass in 74=balls!) and their obvious hard work on technique and still relate that to my customers today. I ain't a religious guy, but thank God for WildWilly! for the ability to send birthday greetings and much love to you and your family. Hope to see ya on the road soon. Yer pal in tone, Billy
