Hey ya'll,been a longtime fan since the mid 70's. I saw Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush in '78 at the first TeXXas Jam (Cotton Bowl,Dallas,Tx.). He came on about 2am. My ride wanted to leave & I said fu,cya... Well he stuck around and it was worth it... smile Then I saw them in '79 in Austin at the AWHQ. Band called Morning Star opened, then came St. Paradise(Derek St. Holmes & Rob Grange's new band),then Mahogany Rush. Excellent show. Just so happens this Sunday afternoon,I was jammin' & ended up putting on "Juggernaut",one of my favorite F.M tapes. After that I wanted more so I put on my F.M & Mahogany Rush LIVE('77) album on. Yep,we used vinyl back in those days... wink And I think I'm fixin' to put on Strange Universe. That was how I got into MR by the way. I heard "Tales of the Spanish Warrior" on KZEW-FM(Rot Your Mind) & I was hooked... smile Great site & I'm glad to find he's still alive & kickin' & makin music. Dear Music. Welcome everybody to the amazing world and love for the powerful music of one Mr. Frank Marino. For me it all began in perhaps a different way through a "family" connection of a young lad, Jimmy Ayoub. His dad, Nick Ayoub, was a gifted saxaphone player in Montreal who also taught music at a local university. (Nick passed away a few years ago) whose brother was Johnny Ayoub. My dad, Jack Paull, was a buyer for IGA, a grocery chain, and he met Johnny Ayoub who was in the "pickle" industry. Well, they became friends and soon we were visiting their home in Montreal. Johnny and Nick, along with their families, lived in an "upstairs/downstairs" duplex. As the years passed, our families stayed in touch but I was older than "Jimmy" so I really didn't get a chance to know him personally. Well, in the early seventies we heard that Jimmy was now part of a band called "Mahagony Rush" and out of respect for his love of music, bought the lp's that many of you have comed to love and cherish. So my introduction to Frank was through a back door, so to speak! Nevertheless, I enjoyed the "band" for it's innovating expression of the music -"explosive" would be a better description! I never compared the band to other groups because it is "their" music with a sense of purpose on its own. People are individuals so why create comparisons that are really meaningless. Though I don't play an instrument, especially with a name like mine "Les Paull" (I get kidded all the time when I go to music stores and introduce myself to see if I can get Frank's music on CD's), my instrument is my spirit when I put on the headphones and fly with Frank's music. It's not an escape but an appreciation for a man that has a god-given talent that we should all be thankful for while we live on this world. Though I have never seen him "live", I can only imagine what it must be like for him to go on stage and share his love of the music that comes from within! Beyond that, seeing his music on CD's is just incredible! So far, the ones that I have purchased are first class in reproduction of the "studio" lp versions. As for my music tastes, I am typical of the "baby boomers" ( born in 1951) having accumuated over 1,700 lp's, 300 "45's" and now over 400 CD's with Frank's music always in my CD player. I am an "accountant" (!) in my day job but a music lover at night! I have a very wide range of music for all tastes but the "rock n' roll" of Mahagony Rush is my pulse. I sincerely hope that we can get all of Frank's music on CD though the vinly versions are still the original, we seem to get much more on the CD pressings. I can't believe the sound range and what I now hear! I await his next release in great expectations because we all get a chance to hear what is in his mind with the power of technology at his finger tips. Keep the music alive my friend, our spirits are with you in support and in your love for life. We don't need "drugs" to get "high" but can reach the sky by letting our inner-self explore the potential that exists and share it with others as a positive experience! Frank's music is truly one of those experiences - share it with friends and family, I have!

Hi Frank! It´s been a long time since Karlshamn, June 11:th 1993 when I had the great honour to meet you, Denice and the guys in your band for two to me very memorable days. To meet the person who´s music I have been listening to since 1973 was of course a great thing, but even better was to find out what a fine person you seem to be. It´s funny how things can happen sometimes! There we were, trying to find our hotel for the night when we all of a sudden run into you outside what turned out to be both yours and our hotel!!! Not that I meet "rockstars" so often, but I doubt that anybodyelse but you would have invited us to have breakfast together like you did. I have not earlier been able to thank you for your hospitality but as they say, "Better later than never".THANK YOU FRANK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I wish you all the best in the future, and hope to see you soon in Sweden.Best regardsHåkan Lidström

I was turned onto Frank at the release of Child of The Novelty.I've bought every lp since then whenever I could find them.I was fortunate enough to see him at the Boston Garden around 76 but he was opening for Ted Nugent and his set was just a measely 20 minutes long. Then I was forced to listen to Ted whom I just about fell asleep on.Sincerely,Pete

TO THOSE OF YOU FANS WHO HAVE NEVER HAD THE OPPURTUNITY TO SEE FRANK LIVE DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND MAKE IT HAPPEN.I'M A LONG TIME FAN OF MANY YEARS AGO AND HAVE ONLY SEEN FRANK LIVE ONCE BACK IN "86" AT A SOMEWHAT SMALL CLUB IN DETROIT CALLED HARPOS.NEEDLESS TO SAY I WAS EXCITED TO FINALLY GET TO SEE THE MAN IN ACTION. LET ME TELL YOU, IT IS THE MOST MEMORABLE CONCERT EXPERIENCE I'VE EVER HAD. OF ALL THE GUITARISTS I'VE SEEN OVER THE YEARS "AND I'VE SEEN MY SHARE OF LEGENDS" FRANK NEVER LETS OFF FROM START TO THE LAST TUNE OF THE ENCORE. THERE WAS 8 OF US FANATICAL FANDS IN MY GROUP AND WE WERE OFCOURSE IN FRONT RIGHT AT THE STAGE.AT FIRST IT WAS REALLY PACKED DOWN THERE,AND THEN I REMEMBER ABOUT TWO THIRDS THRU THE SET I HAPPENED TO TURN AROUND AND NOBODY WAS DOWN FRONT EXCEPT US.I NATURALLY THOUGHT PEOPLE HAD LOST THEIR MINDS! BUT THIS SITUATION DID NOT DETOUR FRANK.HE STOOD RIGHT THERE IN FRONT OF OUR LITTLE GROUP AND PLAYED HIS ASS OFF EXCLUSIVELY TO US! HE NEVER LEFT US THRU THE REST OF THE SET AND IN THE ENCORE.AND DURING ROADHOUS BLUES HE MADE SURE TO LET US KNOW HE APPRECIATED US BEING THERE BY COCKING HIS EAR AT US SO WE COULD SING OUR ASSES OFF ON "GOT MYSELF A BEER"! NOT ONLY IS FRANK THE GREATEST GUITARIST I'VE EVER SEEN,BUT ALSO THE GREATEST PERFORMER.UNFORTUNATELY HE'S ALWAYS GIVEN MORE THAN HES' RECEIVED. I LOVE YA FRANK! DAN SHULER

TOP 10 REASONS FRANK MARINO IS THE WORLD'S GREATEST GUITARIST................. 10. He's alive! {Sorry Jimi} 9. Like fine 12 year old Canadian Whisky; He's smooth. 8. Understands the rhythm's of the inner soul and how it relates to guitar riff's. 7. Because we say so. You got a problem with that? 6. Re-invented abstract art; For the ears. 5. Has forgot more about playing guitar then Ted Nugent will ever learn. 4. World's only hypnotist to use an axe instead of a pocket watch. 3. The 1st time I cued up "Guit War", my old man had a flashback! 2. Started picking a guitar at an age when most kid's are still picking their nose. 1. "Land of 1000 Nights"

Unquestionably one of my favorite guitarists. I've been listening to Frank and MR ever since I bought Maxoom when I was a young teenager. As many of Frank's fans wonder, why isn't Frank more well known? Does he smoke as a guitarist? I think he is way beyond that. I love playing his music to guitarists who have never heard him. They always get this dumb-founded look, wondering what and who they just heard.I remember writing a review on the Stone Free Hendrix Tribute for a music magazine a few years back. In my article I basicly said the CD sucked. What kind of tribute for Hendrix was the CD all about? Where was Frank Marino, Robin Trower, Randy Hansen, Johnny Winter, and Eric Gales? To finish the review I said to go out and buy any Frank Marino and MH CD for a REAL Hendrix Tribute and not waste their money on the Hendrix Tribute CD.: Mark C

I first saw and heard Frank in a small movie house that only held about 300 people, as I had been playing guitar for years he just blew me away, one of the things I liked best about the show was the music was just right in volume, loud to the point of enjoyment, but not so your ears rang afterwards. I have never understood why with his talent they did,nt rise to the same hights as Van Halen, I only know his cds are impossible to find, rock on Frank, and may God bless you.

Ultimately the best guitarist I have ever heard. His style is by far the most wicked and heavy. The MAXOOM album is my favorite. The tunes , "FUNKY WOMAN" and "MAGIC MAN" just totally blast me out of my socks ! Long live the "GIBSON SG" ! Frank plays it best. The "SG" rules, and Frank brings out the best in it !
